Granted, Microsoft has had a pretty dismal showing in the world of Tablets. For a while now their OS on their Tablets has been met with little fanfare. It finally seems like Microsoft is now finally rousing. With the introduction of Windows 8 they are set to shake the World of Tablets.

Their Windows 8 Tablet, due out in mid-2012, has great potential to surprise and amaze. The Tablet set to be a gadget to own in 2012. The Windows 8 Tablet has been developed to run both as a desktop and as a Tablet. It offers both the luxuries of using it with a keyboard and mouse and also as a regular touch-based Tablet; something most Tablets in the market today are unable to do.

Come next year Microsoft will unveil their 10 inch, $200 tablet and again, the Tech industry will light up as it did with the introduction of the Kindle Fire. The specs are not spectacular, but at that price parents will flock to the stores, teens will save up for it and working-class adults will own one. The windows 8 tablet is not just convenient- use it as desktop or Tablet-it also will fit well with your server stack or windows based media center at home. Companies will die clamoring for them for their employees and so will schools.

Of course they might mean the demise of the Netbooks, and Apple with their expensive iPads will feel the heat, but so be it. The Windows 8 Tablets will be lighter, sleeker and cheaper. If you wont own one come 2012 then the lose is yours.

2011 proved to be a rather busy Year in the Technology World. The Tech World unleashed a myriad of new products and some improvements and enhancements of the old. Some products burned and fizzled, others stood out and, in the process, emptied our pockets. Below are the must haves, the products that defined 2011.

Apple iPad 2

The iPad has revolutionized the World in more ways than one. The iPad 2 came slimmer than the earlier version; it was faster, lighter and more powerful. It was versatile and fit easily into our workplace. The laptop could do much that the iPad could, but it was cooler and sleeker and easier to lag around. It made surfing, viewing photos and reading email cooler with its touchscreen.

The Kindle

The coolest e-reader in the market today is the Kindle. It revolutionized the way we read books. Above all it revived our desire to read and held our ever changing attention long enough for us to actually finish a whole book. Reading was close becoming extinct until the kindle gave it a breath of fresh air. The introduction of the touchscreen kindle was a welcome innovation. The price is attractive at even less than $100. For the serious readers, especially the older generation, this is perfectas it comes with all the basics of a good old book. It’s lighter and sleek making even your grandma look cool. The kindle fire came with a few more bells and whistles and at a good price is an alternative to the more expensive iPad.

4G mobile phone

The year 2011 saw the introduction of sleek 4G mobile phones. Motorola unleashed their Motorola Atrix 4G. With a 1GHZ dual-core processor and 4-inch, 900 by 540 pixel resolution, this phone is a heavyweight. Add the built-in fingerprint reader to unlock the phone and you have a winner

Verizon also managed to unleash their 4G phone-HTC Thunderbolt. Though it’s ridiculously overpriced it still manages to amaze with its download speed of 8-12 megabit per second. It’s a must. It’s also cute and sleek.

Of course Apple wasn’t left behind. They introduced their 4G iPhone that comes with 8/16/32 GB storage, 512 MB RAM and a 5 MP 2592 x 1944 pixel camera. At 137 g it’s light on your hand. Of course it comes with the handy GPS , noise cancelling, voice command, iCloud and speeds of 7.2 Mbps.
